Edward Taylor

Fish / Owner
  • Ed Taylor

As co-founder of Farmer & the Fish alongside chef-farmer Michael Kaphan, Edward Taylor is the "Fish" part of the equation. From his humble beginnings as a fisherman selling clams to NYC restaurants out of his van, Taylor has grown into a successful restaurateur and businessperson. Beyond Farmer & the Fish, Taylor is the founder and president of Downeast Seafood Co., the NY-based wholesale seafood distribution company he founded more than 25 years ago, and owner of Fish in Manhattan's West Village. Taylor's passion for sustainable agriculture and the environment earned him an Environmental Quality Award, for the zero-emissions electric delivery truck he uses to service Downeast Seafood's daily business needs, and those same guiding principles inform his everyday decisions as a restaurateur. At Farmer & the Fish, Taylor sources the highest-quality sustainable seafood, highlighted in the restaurants' extensive raw bar and the many dishes Kaphan creates with his seasonal catches.
